Life in DeForest

Employees and families choose DeForest for its beautiful neighborhoods, quality schools, exceptional public safety services, plentiful parks and trails and many events and activities.
Providing easy access to urban amenities while maintaining the welcoming quality of life in the suburbs attracts residents of all ages.

The DeForest Area School District (DASD) is a growing school district which will soon have three elementary schools, one intermediate school, one middle school and one high school. DASD enjoys a long community tradition of scholarship and high achievement both in and outside of the classroom.  Parents and the community at large are involved in the educational process at many levels in the system. Strong links between the schools and local senior citizens and businesses enhance the learning opportunities available to both the students and the general public.

DeForest has a growing number of options for single-family and multi-family residential living. Check out the following links for various neighborhood options.

Parks, Trails and Events

DeForest's park system boasts 57 acres of community parkland, 30 acres of neighborhood parkland and over 300 acres of conservancy.  To that end, the village houses 12 developed parks and approximately 18+ miles of trail.  Visit our parks to enjoy our playgrounds, athletic fields, movies in the park, picnic shelters, splash pad or any of our special events.

Public Safety

DeForest is served and protected by the DeForest Police Department and the DeForest Windsor Fire & EMS. Residents of DeForest enjoy low property and violent crime rates compared with state and national ratings. The men and women of our public safety divisions pride themselves on keeping the community safe. Community events held by the divisions also keep our community connected.
